Miss Connie met her Aunt Dena, Uncle David, and cousins Mariah, Marisia, and Madalyn last month when they made the trip home from Arkansas. We had a great (but too short) visit and celebrated Mariah’s graduation. Here are some images from their visit. The girls were very excited to meet our sweet baby Connie and they were so awesome with her. Wish you were all closer! Hope to see you soon.

June 2015 Photo Purge
June 2015: Random captures of our ever-growing and changing baby girl.
This month she really began noticing colors and objects, following with her eyes and moving her head to keep objects in sight. She is very strong. She enjoys standing with assistance and has great control of her neck for her young age. On June 9, she rolled from her back to tummy–twice. Now she pretty much has it mastered. Tummy to back yet to come! We also got a first giggle late in the month, created by a tummy tickle. She is an absolute sweetheart and we are crazy about her.
- out for a hike
- With cousin, Madalyn, who was so wonderful with her
- Nap time
- Mountain climbers in the hammock
- Our lil Family
- with Nora
- Working to fill out daddy’s hat
- Papa is the best pillow
- trying out the walker for the first time
- doing pretty well!
Two Months
The 14th of the month marks our monthly milestone during this first year of life for Connie Elizabeth. Month One I managed to get her photos taken and posted right away. Month Two rolled around and at about 7 pm that evening I told Cody we needed to get her photos taken before the day was over and before she entered her evening fussy time. Lighting was low in the house so we moved outdoors to the front yard for this month’s images and worked quickly. Two weeks later, I’m getting them posted. Time in the day is short, now more than ever. Kudos to all the mommies and daddies out there juggling home, work, family, life, and children!
I used the same props so we can do comparisons each month. She is a very happy baby and we witness lots of smiles each day.
Month Two
- Weight: 12 lbs 3 oz (71%)
- Height: 25″ (“off the charts,” 100%+). This might be an indication of a tall girl in the future, we will see. (20.5″ at birth and those 4.5 inches are noticeable during feedings!)
- Eyes: Lighter this month, but still a steel-blue color, now with flecks of green
- Hair: Still a Brunette but some days it looks lighter, some days darker. It looks light in these photos as we were outside with natural light.
- Changes:
- Eyebrows have really come in the last month and eyelashes are growing longer–hopefully, she gets her daddy’s eyelashes!
- Her second chin is more pronounced 🙂
- Bring on the baby slobbers and bubble making.
- Our nanny started part-time. A new person for Connie to learn and attach to; and a big help for mama!
- We are beginning to call her by her name more often. Even though I have had “Connie” selected as my girl name for many years, it is taking some getting used to to actually apply it to my baby girl.
- New Discoveries and Milestones:
- She makes noises when excited; appears to “talk” when we talk to her
- She rolled over, from tummy to back, twice! I caught the second time on video.
- Holds her head up very well for this age and also wants to be stood up
- She moves her head and eyes to follow people objects
- Eats: very good, exclusively breastfed
- Sleeps: Still doing well. As a “happy two months of life” gift, we booted her from our bed. 🙂 She sleeps in her bassinet next to our bed. Some nights she wakes every few hours, but a few times, she has gone 7 hours straight!
- Who does she look like? Pretty much everyone agrees she is all Cody. I get credit for the chin, the hair, and maybe the ears. She still changes daily.
- Her Faves: being sung to, colors, her mama (a selfish love of mine too) and EATING! :))
Father’s Day 2015
It was a beautiful day for Father’s day. Unfortunately, Cody had farm obligations he felt needed to be done. So the babe and I loaded up and headed to Castle Rock to be with my daddy. This was Connie’s first introduction to the lake, we hung out at the beach with her cousin Chance after grilling out at my parents cabin. Chance loves the beach and water. It is fun watching him explore and build.
Mr. Popular…and his friends
I originally took this photo in December while practicing with new lighting equipment. I recently rediscovered it in my files and decided to process it… and was quite impressed with Gus’ formal look. I decided to share it on Boxer Fan Club, a Facebook page dedicated to Boxer owners and their Boxer babes. When I last tallied the counts weeks ago, I had over 1700 “likes”, 181 shares, and 61 comments. Far more popular than I thought possible, but Boxer lovers love Boxer lovers! Continue reading
The All American Family
I have said it so many times… I’m blessed. One of the many ways God has been good to me is with the dear–and truly awesome–souls he has placed in my life. I am rich with my family and my friends. This post introduces you to some great people who are both to me.
Shane and Shae Ferguson are fun, caring, loving, humorous, and the kind of people you want in your life. They are also a great example of what love, marriage, and family are all about. The love they have for each other is obvious… and it’s inspiring. They are high school sweethearts and their marriage is a partnership and a friendship. Forget the fact that their names are nearly identical…that just puts it over the top! Continue reading
All About Animals: An Eagle, A Foal, and Bunny Too!
On Saturday we went to Sauk City to run errands and I wanted to take advantage of a final opportunity to use the Sigma 18-200 mm lens I was renting to capture an eagle. We were in luck! There as a mature eagle perched in a tree on the river and I was able to click away. The majestic bird was quite a distance from us, but the lens allowed me to close the gap a bit and get some shots while he was in flight. Continue reading
Picture Perfect
So often I am reminded that it is the little things in life that truly are the [BIG] things. Like time with the ones you love, enjoying God’s beauty, taking time for yourself, and of course, witnessing the amazing spirit of animals.
On Sunday we decided to hop on the four-wheeler and enjoy the great outdoors. Well, actually, I suggested a hike so that I might play with the Sigma 18-200 lens that I rented and capture some new images on a February winter day. Cody thought the four-wheeler would be more fun and provide the kids [pups] with more exercise.
They had a grand time chasing us across the pasture, over the hills, and through the woods. It was a beautiful day, and while the scope of the lens practice was not what I had originally planned, nor was the quality of the images as I clicked away while strapped to the back of a cruising four-wheeler, the images are ones I cherish nonetheless. They remind me of my numerous blessings and extraordinary life, and of an afternoon we stole and made just for us.
That really is the beauty of photos. They take us back, make us pause, reflect. A thousand memories can be recalled with a single glance. They are the storybook to our life.
And so it begins…
